Hello! I’m Mayzie Purviance, author of Activists vs. Agriculture.
I was born and raised in Rosalie, Texas, a small community in the heart of northeast Texas. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Agricultural Communications & Journalism in December 2018 and currently work as the assistant editor of the Western Ag Reporter in Billings, Montana.
An appreciation for agriculture and education were instilled in me from a young age. My father came from a long line of ranchers and farmers while my mother came from a long line of teachers. Add in my passion for communication and you’ve got the basic mission of Activists vs. Agriculture: communicate agriculture effectively.
I believe it is my duty as an agricultural communicator to educate the public to my best ability through writing. I have two goals in creating Activists vs. Agriculture. The first is to educate the general public of agricultural facts and advancements in a compelling and creative way. The second is to inspire agricultural industry professionals to share their stories and welcome conversation with the public to better inform them of the food on their plates.
